Czech Republic Consumer Health Market

Consumer health was led by Zentiva ks, followed by domestic company Walmark in 2011. Other leading players within consumer health were GlaxoSmithKline sro, Teva Czech Industries sro and domestic company Green Swan Pharmaceuticals CR as. Although multinationals led sales of OTC products, two domestic companies, namely Walmark and Green Swan Pharmaceuticals, dominated sales of vitamins and dietary supplements in 2011. The success of these leading players lies in their well-established brands which enjoy consumer trust in terms of quality and safety.

Consumers economise in order to reduce their expenses
On-going poor economic situation and the connected uncertainty among consumers brought some changes in customer behaviour at the end of the review period. Firstly, consumers thought more about their purchases and tended to buy products that they really needed, and secondly, many consumers became more economical in their consumption and purchases. Within consumer health, these changes were seen in the increased demand for products sold in higher pack sizes which offered more advantageous prices. Furthermore, consumer health products were also purchased less frequently as reserves by many consumers.

Pricing and Reimbursement in Generics – European Austerity Measures and Healthcare Cost Containment Puts Innovation-Driven Pharma Companies under Pressure

The report provides a comprehensive overview of the healthcare expenditure, healthcare regulatory system, and pricing and reimbursement process with key data, information and analysis of pricing and reimbursement decisions, across 19 countries. The report closely scrutinizes the major changes in generic drugs-related pricing and reimbursement in the 19 countries over recent years and whose impact will be felt in the near future. It also describes the efforts taken by the governing bodies in shaping the pricing and reimbursement policies of generic drugs. GBI Research has found that expenditure towards healthcare has shown an increasing trend in most of the countries due to rising costs, resulting in budget deficits. In order to save costs, many countries have adopted reference pricing as it helps lower drug costs. Plans to increase generic drug prescription and low-cost generic drug use are being implemented in order to tackle budget deficits. Austerity measures that include price cuts and rebate reforms have been introduced in some of the countries with a view to generate maximum savings within a given period of time. These steps are being taken to build sufficient funds for future investment purposes. In most countries the focus has shifted to generic drugs as they have been successful in bringing these countries out of crisis; the countries have reformed their pricing and reimbursement structure accordingly.

Scope
A detailed study of the healthcare systems in the US, France, Germany, the UK, Italy and Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Romania, Hungary, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Japan, Australia, China and India.
Analysis of the pricing and reimbursement mechanisms for the countries covered in the report.
Key trends that follow from the recent changes brought about in the pricing and reimbursement system.

Conductive Inks Markets 2012-2018

Silver flake inks serve the largest and most mature markets. For example, the crystalline silicon solar cell industry alone consumes approximately 1,100 metric tonnes of silver flake inks. On the other hand, emerging inks are slowly penetrating the market by either displacing an existing product (e.g., indium tin oxide) and/or enabling new markets based on their attributes of higher conductivity, inkjet printability, flexibility, and/or enhanced surface smoothness.

Conductive inks are a simple and unglamorous layer but they will constitute a hefty $2.86 billion market in 2012. This market is forecasted to rise to $3.36 billion in 2018, with $735 million captured by new silver and copper nanostructure inks.

These values make conductive inks the most successful segment of all printed electronics, surpassing the likes of printable OLEDs, photovoltaics, displays, etc. This is because conductive inks find use in a great variety of end applications, including RFID, photovoltaics, sensors, vehicles, smart packages, flexible display and lighting and touch screens. This enormous diversity reflects the simple fact that all electronic devices require multiple layers of interconnects.

This multiplicity of market requirements has resulted in the introduction of many types of inks, each offering their own set of characteristics and uniques. Innovation in the field of nanotechnology has largely enabled this high level of product differentiation. Indeed, the market today contains graphene, carbon nanotubes, and silver and copper nanostructure (nanoparticle and nanowire) inks, all of which have one or two dimensions in the nanoscale.

New Report on US Antioxidant Products Market

Antioxidants are found in a diversity of consumer packaged goods—from fruit juices to deodorant—but reflect a metatrend whereby the link between dietary supplements and actual diets is becoming ever stronger.   American consumers not only approach foods and beverages from a nutritional supplementation perspective, but also have come to regard health and beauty products as extensions of the foods they eat and the nutritional supplements they take.  What has emerged is a continuum of nutrient-positioned products extending from whole foods into fortified/functional foods and through to nutritional supplements and personal care products.

For this reason, this research sees tremendous growth potential for antioxidant product marketers over the next ten years.  Several drivers are fueling this market, including consumers living longer than ever before, the uncertain state of the healthcare system and of environmental protection, and increased demands for vitality in a highly competitive job market.  Moreover, marketers and media of all stripes continue to educate consumers about the anti-aging and immunity-boosting qualities of antioxidants—making antioxidants a household word and helping to counteract barriers raised by the complexity of the antioxidant health message, the lack of standards, and somewhat stringent FDA guidance on nutrient content claims for antioxidant foods and beverages.

Oral Care Products & Other Dental Consumables Market

The increasing ageing population across the globe and a concurrent increase in demand for enhanced oral care offers huge opportunities for product innovation and differentiation to dental care providers. Most providers practice direct customer interaction to improve sales and increase awareness towards their products as well as overall oral health. Moreover, increasing awareness in the developing nations about oral hygiene and new product developments has also given a boost to the market for dental consumables. Rising demand for aesthetic dentistry and growing dental tourism further ensures growth of this market in coming years.

Emerging technologies will have a great impact over the overall growth of the market, as these will help reduce the overall turnaround time for dental procedures and also improve the efficiency of practitioners. For instance, introduction of CAD/CAM technology has considerably reduced the designing time for dental prostheses like crowns and bridges and 3D imaging techniques have improved patient diagnosis and procedure planning. While lack of consumer awareness in developing economies may hinder market growth, industry players still have immense growth opportunities due to less stringent regulations with respect to introduction of new and advanced products and also their pricing. Increasing insurance coverage in the developed countries and rising income levels in developing nations like India and China are also expected to contribute significantly to the growth of this market.

Europe forms the largest regional market for dental consumables, marked by the presence of numerous market leaders based in this region and a large ageing population that can afford expensive dental procedures. Americas hold the largest share in this market with significant developments and growth in the dental industry and a huge number of dental manufacturers operating in various segments with a global presence. Asian countries like India, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore are likely to provide significant growth opportunities due to the rising population and increasing per capita incomes of the large middle class populations. Further, the rising awareness levels about dental & oral health and hygiene will ensure a constant increase in the consumer population opting for dental services.
Major players in the global oral care products market include Dentsply International (U.S.), Ivoclar Vivadent (Liechtenstein), Danaher Corporation (U.S.), Heraeus Dental (Germany), 3M-ESPE (U.S.), and GC Corporation (Japan).

China Paddy and Rice Processing Industry Report, 2011-2012

China’s paddy and rice processing enterprises vary in profitability due to different operating modes and products. Enterprises in the fifth mode represented by Wanfu Biotechnology feature higher profitability since their rice resources are developed comprehensively and utilized sufficiently, and their products are involved in the whole industry chain. From January to September of 2011, Wanfu Biotechnology’s operating revenue and net income were RMB396 million and RMB51.09 million respectively, increasing 25.7% and 37.6% separately year on year. In 2011, the company went public to raise funds in order to expand its production capacity of major products. Its production capacity is expected to be doubled after the capacity expansion project being put into production.

In consideration of Wanfu Biotechnology’s first-mover advantage, enterprises represented by Yihai Kerry Group and COFCO Rice Division depend on their scale advantage as well as existing brands and channels to set foot in the paddy and rice processing industry. Such enterprises are dominant producers of small packing polished rice, while the sales volume of small packing polished rice accounts for less than 10% of the rice consumption in China at present. As people pay more and more attention to the nutritional and healthcare function of rice, these enterprises will see a promising market development prospect. However, Beidahuang and Jinjian, also being producers of small packing polished rice, have relatively low profitability due to regional and production scale restrictions.

Representative enterprises in the third mode and the fourth mode, such as Shanghai Rong Xuan Hang and Wuhan Jiabao, only focus on the development of rice albumen powder, rice starch sugar and the like in the industry chain. In spite of small number of product categories, they also see huge development potential owing to relatively higher technical barriers and prosperous market demand. Taking rice starch sugar product as an example, it is gradually replacing cane sugar featured with insufficient quantity and high price due to its low cost and sufficient raw materials; and its output is expected to reach 1.7 million tons in 2013 in China, and its proportion in the total output of starch sugar will rise to 14.2% from 12.8% in 2006.

China Paddy and Rice Processing Industry Report, 2011-2012 mainly covers the followings:
Development environment, industry scale and development trend of paddy and rice processing industry in China
Supply and demand of upstream raw materials and downstream deep processing products in Chinese paddy and rice processing industry
