China to expand position as largest elevator market
China will expand its position as the world’s largest national elevator market, with domestic demand growing over eleven percent per year through 2015. The country will add over 90 million new urban residents by 2015, and elevator demand tends to be heavily concentrated in urban centers. India will also see strong growth, with its urban population expected to increase by 45 million people by 2015. China will also maintain its position as the world’s largest escalator market. The country is expected to continue to see major expansion in its public transportation infrastructure, with plans on adding well over 50 new airports by 2015.

Growth in US demand for elevator equipment and services will outpace the world average through 2015, but gains will be coming off a very weak base due to the country’s 2008 and 2009 recession. Demand growth in Japan and Western Europe will lag the world average through 2015, although the Japanese market will post significant recovery from the performance of the 2005 to 2010 period. Global elevator services demand exceeded global elevator equipment demand in 2010 due to the large base level of installed elevators in the developed world. Western Europe accounted for 45 percent of global elevator services demand in 2010, since a large installed base level of elevators in the region and stringent safety codes bolster the services sector significantly. In the developing world, most elevator demand comes from the equipment sector in the form of new installations.

Analysis of Growth Opportunities in the Indian Desalination Market

The total annual precipitation in India is nearly 4,000 billion cubic meters (BCM). India has abundant rains, but the water is not distributed throughout the country. In addition, deteriorating surface water quality has made India to seek a sustainable option - desalination. Desalination is a process of removing excess of salts and minerals in the water and make it fit for consumption. With the water availability in India to be reduced to 1,000 cubic meters per person per year by 2050, fresh water demand is expected to rise. Hence, India has a huge untapped potential for the desalination market.

STUDY GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
This report provides an overview of the tissue engineering and regeneration industry.  It describes existing products on the market and offers detailed analysis of the competitive environments, including new and potential markets for novel therapies and treatments.  The study includes information about significant industry players, trends, and obstacles, and discusses factors affecting the development of new products, devices, and therapies.

Tissue Engineering and Regeneration Industry

REASONS FOR DOING THIS STUDY
Tissue engineering is a multidisciplinary study involving biology, medicine, and engineering to create products and devices that will improve or replace biological functions and organs.  The first experiments in tissue engineering date back to the 1960s.  More than a decade ago, the industry introduced the first FDA-approved, tissue-engineered commercial product—artificial skin substitute.

Although tissue engineering has enormous commercial potential, it seems that this market develops at a very slow pace.  After the introduction of skin substitutes and cartilage regeneration products in the last decade or so, not much progress has been made in the industry.  Moreover, some of the products have been discontinued.  One of the main reasons for this slow development is the biological complexity of growing organs and tissue replacements.  In addition, current technologies are not efficient enough to make these products cost-effective alternatives.

Overall, the tissue engineering market is a heterogeneous industry and can be divided into number of subsectors.  Skin substitutes are a relatively developed segment, while tissue-engineered products for the nervous system comprise a sector that is still in a preliminary stage.  Recent developments in regeneration research, especially stem cell research, give hope that new scientific breakthroughs will lead to innovative products.

In summary, this report will highlight the main segments of the tissue engineering and regeneration industry, its major market participants, and current and future market trends.  The report will also highlight specific geographical regions that have individual market characteristics.  Drivers and challenges in each sector of this industry will be discussed in detail, including forecasts for the next 5 years.

SCOPE AND FORMAT
This report is a current and important business tool for evaluating new, commercial opportunities in the tissue engineering market.  The geographic scope of this study covers the U.S., Europe, and other parts of the world.  The market is complex and consists of many sectors, each affected differently by scientific and technological developments.  The report identifies the primary positive and negative factors in each sector and forecasts future trends, products, and therapies for each category.

What You'll Get in This Report
Food Flavors and Ingredients Outlook 2012 outlines the anticipated key drivers likely to impact the U.S. food and beverage industry in 2012. These include economic uncertainty arising from the seemingly slow pace of the U.S. economic recovery and financial woes in the Euro Zone, tenuous consumer confidence, the shrinking middle class, continued consumer frugality and trading down.

This year's report focuses more on flavor and ingredient trends across a wider range of food and beverage categories. A change from last year, it does not address sustainability, organic and natural ingredient trends, which are more appropriately covered in other, dedicated Packaged Facts reports.
